Warm-Up
To warm up, let's practice some capitalization. Copy the following sentences onto a piece of paper with the correct words capitalized.
Remember: DON'T capitalize the words east, west, north, and south unless you are talking about a specific part of a country. If you are just talking about directions, then leave them lower-case.
Remember: DON'T capitalize the words "god" or "goddess" unless you are using those words as a NAME. The same rule applies to members of your family . . . don't capitalize words like "brother," "sister," "grandma," or "grandpa" unless you are using them as NAMES.
1. i went to southern california for a vacation.
2. in greek mythology, the goddess of wisdom is named athena.
3. please tell mom that i would like more tortillas.
4. my grandpa is 86 years old.
5. in church we learn about god.
